Initial days
Cruise was born to Mary Lee and Thomas Cruise in Syracuse, New York. He had a catholic upbringing and grew up in poverty. Cruise was often exposed to his Father’s atrocity. Tom Cruise spent a part of his childhood in Canada. His family moved to Ottawa in late 1971 and Cruise’s father took a position as a defense consultant with armed forces of Canada. Cruise attended Robert Hopkins public school when he was in class four. It was during this time that he got involved in drama for the first time under the guidance of George Steinburg. Cruise went to Henry Munro middle school when he was in grade sixth.

Cruise performed a very small role for the first time in the film Endless Love which was released in 1981. His major supporting role was as a military school student in the movie ‘Taps’. Some other movies of Tom Cruise are The Outsiders, All the Right Moves, Risky Business, Top Gun, Legend, The Color of Money, Cocktail, Days of Thunder and Far and Away. In 1996, Cruise appeared in Mission Impossible and Jerry Maguire. Cruise started Cruise/Wagner productions in 1993 with Paul Wagner who was his former talent agent. The company has produced many films, the first being mission impossible in 1996.

Fun facts
Tom suffered from dyslexia during his childhood. He was tormented through his entire school life and changed around 15 different schools. He was too fond of playing floor hockey but once suffered from an accident that hurt his front tooth. He was entitled “Sexiest Man Alive” in People’s Magazine in the year 1990. He was also rated amongst the 50 most beautiful people in the world. The actor was at quite bitter terms with his dad. Strange but true, his love life was hit each time with a woman taller than him and marriages eventually ended up in divorces.

Tom has been associated with quite a number of brands and is too much into charity work. He participated in A Tribute to Heroes charity for the people who suffered during 9/11. He later made his contribution in Hollywood Education and Literacy Project by becoming an honorable board member. Not only in movies but also in reality, this actor is a real hero. Once he saved two kids from a rushing crowd, saved many people from a burning boat and has also always paid the bills for people whom he has ever accidentally hurt. Cruise was born to Mary Lee, a special education teacher and Thomas Cruise Mapother III, an electric engineer. He has three sisters, Marian, Lee Anne and Cass. Cruise had a relationship with Rebecca de Momay (co-star of risky business) from 1983 to 1985. He married actress Mimi Rogers in 1981 but unfortunately their marriage could not last longer and their divorce was finalized on 4 February, 1990.
Cruise married actress Nicole Kidman on December 24, 1990. They adopted two children Isabella Jane and Connor Antony but Cruise filed for divorce from Kidman in February 2001. After this, Cruise fell in love with Penelope who was his co-star in the movie Vanilla Sky but unfortunately, the relationship ended in 2004. Cruise started dating actress Katie Holmes in April 2005 and they got married on November 18, 2006. Holmes filed divorce from Cruise on June 29, 2012.Cruise enjoyed playing floor hockey during his school life. He was also a football player for the varsity team and acted as a linebacker in his senior years but was expelled from the team because he was caught having beer before a game.
