Katrina Kaif is a British born Indian actress who has established herself as a leading Bollywood actress. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. Her good looks and sweet smile have helped her earn lots of fans and attention. In 2008, she was the most searched Indian celebrity on both prominent search engines; Google and Yahoo.

Katrina Kaif was first discovered by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film “Boom”. Though the film was a box-office disaster, it paved way for her in Bollywood. And, subsequently in 2007 she had her first commercial success with Vipul Shah's Namastey London. She later starred in several prominent films such as Partner, Singh Is Kinng, New York, Rajneeti and Ek Tha Tiger, making her one of the biggest mega-stars and perhaps the highest paid lead actresses in Bollywood.

Initial days

Katrina Kaif was born to an Indian Kashmiri father and a British mother. She is one of the seven siblings with five sisters and one brother. At the age of 14, she started her modeling career as she was approached for a jewelry campaign. Thereafter, she continued to model for many more brands. While working in London, she was offered a part in a Bollywood movie that kick started her career. In 2004, she moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments.

Career Accomplishments 

Despite her linguistic shortcomings, she managed to land a role in a Telugu film, 'Malliswari', which ended up being a huge box office success and helped her rise to stardom. Since then Katrina Kaif bundled a lot of film roles. In 2005, she did a cameo in Ram Gopal Varma's movie, Sarkar. The same year, she landed her first major role in David Dhawan's film, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. The following year, she was paired opposite Akshay Kumar in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.

In 2007, she tasted success with Vipul Shah's romantic-comedy, Namastey London. The film became a major hit. She next appeared in movie, Apne that also received unanimous praise. Her next release was ‘Partner’. This movie also earned good reviews at the box office. Her final film of 2007, ‘Welcome’, was also declared a blockbuster in India.

Later she appeared in ‘Singh is Kinng’, which became the third highest grossing film of 2008. In 2009, she featured in New York where her performance was critically acclaimed and for which she received her first Filmfare nomination in the best actress category. In 2010, Kaif appeared in Prakash Jha's political thriller Rajneeti, where she was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. The film did extremely well at the box office and earned her favorable reviews.  In the same year, she also starred in Tees Maar Khan which was not received well by the audience. In the following year, she appeared in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which emerged as a major critical and commercial success. In 2012, she played a leading role in Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan. The film was a huge commercial success.

Her blockbuster films made her one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood. Armed with a string of Bollywood hits, she was clearly leading the way; both in terms of yearly earnings and the number of ardent fans following her footsteps.

Katrina Kaif seems to put on a confident look and creates a firm standing for herself in Bollywood. In 2008, she won the Best Female Style Icon at the IIFA awards. Also, she clinched top spot in FHM India's 100 Sexiest women in the world poll.

Brand Affiliations 

Katrina has a number of endorsements. In 2002, she was appointed as the brand ambassador of Coca-Cola in Tamil Nadu along with leading South Indian Actor, Vijay. She has also endorsed several skin products, particularly Veet, as well as multi-national brands like Panasonic. She has also been roped in to be a brand ambassador of the Airline, United Arab Emirates-Eithad Airways.

Friends, Family and Hobbies

Katrina Kaif has always been known as Salman Khan's long term girlfriend. But the relationship ended on a sad note and she later opted to keep the media out of her personal life.

Her interests lie in acting, dancing, playing chess, painting, cooking, meeting new people and hanging out with friends.
